This is a lovely book but my daughters did not have the attention span for this book until they were at least 18 months - 2 years. Therefore, there's no need to have a board-book version of this book. It's really not intended for infants.
I received a first edition of the board book as a baby shower gift when my second daughter was born last year and was so moved by the story. It is about a bunny who wants to run away from home and everywhere he wants to go, the momma bunny says that she will come for him. It is such a sweet and reassuring story of a mother's love for her baby and one I am already sharing with my daughter.
This book is larger than the books they sell in the store. Great story, love it. Thank you.
Only rated 3-stars due to illustrations. What a dissapointment to find black and white illustrated pages mixed in between the colored pages in this beautiful children's book written in the 40's. I suppose, in and attempt to cut cost. Poorly reproduced.
When I use the words "Have a carrot", my children know that I am reassuring them once again that no matter how far away they go, how old they get or what they try out during their growing up years, I will always, always, always, always, always, always, ALWAYS love them and be there for them. This book is a special part of my relationship with both my kids. I just finished packing up a box that will go on its way to her in the next few days. My 21-year old daughter is far away, and in harm's way. I'm sure that when they have kids, it will become a part of my grandchildren's lives, too. In it are some warm underthings, several pairs of good wool socks, and a few small trinkets I hope she likes. There's a card, too, and on the inside I wrote, "Have a carrot" before finishing it off with a big cheery smiley face.In my home, between my children (the aforementioned girl child and my son, her 13-year old brother) and me, "The Runaway Bunny" has long been a touchstone of sorts. Some books transcend time and persist past fads. "The Runaway Bunny" is definitely one of them.
